I was somewhat hesitant about reading this book. I've always been a fam of paranormal, but focused more on Vampires than any other creature/being, but after seeing several posts from others I decided to give it a go.
At first this was hard to get into as we switched between the hero, Dylan, and our heroine, Kera.
Dylan is a human who has never fit in. His mother is a hopeless romantic who feels Dylan is a burden on her. He hadn't had a steady home and the few friends he gets in each place forget about him. Dylan has had recurring dreams about a girl in white since his youth. Little known to him it's our heroine, Kera. When Dylan goes hunting and finds her he finally comes into knowing who he truly is. He finds out he has powers of his own that he doesn't understand until he meets Kera. She helps him understand his powers.
Kera is a young...elf, for lack of a better word. After seeing the main villain murder her close friends she knows her home, Teag is heading into dark times. Kera finds out there is a breech in the wall keeping her world separate from that of humans. She decides to go find out and the story takes off as the the two meet and danger is right in pursuit of them.
As their worlds collide each ones devotion and trust is tested and put to the unthinkable! Kera spends much time in the human realm causing her father to worry about where she went. She is put under guard to keep her from straying from home, but had more up her sleeve than most know about. Once she meets Dylan he gives chase to keep her near.
Dylan ends up in Teag and trouble brews in large as he finds Kera and is trying to stay alive. He is battling his wanton desire for Kera and his need to return home, but finds out it may already be to late. He is courageous, but careless as he gets others involved in his battle. Several friends get involved and join his fight, even if it may mean they don't return home.
Our villain, Navar is cruel and unfeeling. He stops at nothing to gain ultimate power. He has the people of Teag believing he will make things right once he is king . They have no choice in giving him their loyalties even if they cannot afford his price. He finds out about Dylan and seeks him out. Dylan and Kera face much uncertainty about their future as Navar will stop at nothing to be rid of Dylan and become king.
As the story starts the finale of this part of his adventure Dylan hits a huge snag which at first sets him back a bit, but he quickly uses this to his advantage and attempts to turn the tables, only to have it go wrong. It turns out much different than I had thought, but in a good sort of way.
I look forward to the next part, but there is no information from shea's site which indicates when or what that next book is coming out or being called. Until then it leaves you wanting to find out what more will Dylan have to encounter??
