Welcome everyone. today I am thrilled to have Racked Firasek here to talk about her latest book, called Creating fate. So let's not keep Chloe, or rachel waiting!
Hello Rachel! I’m thrilled to have you here and thanks for being today’s “Pick”.
Please share a little about yourself, your works and what got you into writing.
Wow, that’s really broad, I’ll try not to run on forever. Not like I'd care really...your quite fun to hang with I’m a daytime office manager, and a night time author. I have three kids and a hubby—that I adore. I’ve published 5 books with small presses and Creating Fate is my first true Indie-pub book. I’ve been writing for 3 years, seriously, but pretty much my whole life. I began writing as a way to pass the time while my husband was overseas working as a civilian contractor. That was the longest year of my life. Writing so helped me get through it.
I loved reading about Chloe and Dane! Chloe is very tortured after she lost David. She blamed her sister for a while, how hard was it for her to come to grips with realizing it was fate and it couldn’t be averted?
She’s really not that vengeful of a person, so she didn’t hang onto the rage forever, but even the sweetest natured person wants someone to blame. I think it’s human nature.
Very true, it does seem to be human nature to want to blame someone for the bad things that happen in hour lives.
When Dane helped cheer her up on the bus, she clams up. When he says he wanted to kiss her, I think she was shocked and would have taken him up. What would have conspired if she had?
Oh, boy. I would have probably them do some heavy necking until the old biddy in the seat behind him, thunked him on the head for mauling her. But, it might have went something like this:
Dane watched her small, pink tongue snake out and trace her bottom lip. His nostrils flared, inhaling the musky scent of her arousal. She liked what he’d said, even if she didn’t want to let him know. He dipped his head down to her and caught the last tear with his tongue, swiping his lips along her cheeks, waiting for that indrawn breath that told him she knew he meant business. There it was. Now, she’d be his…
Dane starts to let his guard down around her, but as he put it, they kept going from hot to cold on each other. One would open and other clam up, What was it that kept Dane from opening to her earlier?
He’s in a situation that won’t let him. As an undercover agent, if he shared anything about his life, not only would it put her in danger, but it was endanger his case. He didn’t trust her that much yet.
When Chloe froze time after being dragged away by Jack and Marty, at that time Dane didn't question why things were not moving. Did he not notice or think anything was going on?
He wasn’t there and by the time she’d made it back to him she’d released time. If I remember right, lol.
After being in the safety of Austin with Shady on the way, they seemed to be getting somewhere, but again Chloe clams up. Dane was accepting of wanting to wait. How hot would it have been if she would have given in to her wants?
Uh, really hot. Can you imagine? Steamy shower sex, maybe wet bodied mattress sex, maybe wall sex…the list is endless. :-) But, in respect for the other two authors in this series, I kept things a little mellow in that department. Maybe we’ll see Chloe and Dane again in a free chapter somewhere and I’ll really let them at each other. Lol. That would be fun.
Well yeah! The heat and chemistry between them! HOT like WOAH!
Did the plot and characters work out as you wanted or did they shape the book as you were writing?
I’m not a plotter, so my characters completely run the show. I’m actually getting better and steering them in the right direction as I write, but sometimes they like to go and do their own thing. Creating Fate was a pretty easy write.
This is one of three books about the Fates, what can readers expect from the other books? Without spoilers please if possible.
Well, the next book, Stealing Fate takes a much deeper look into the Mythology. Berinn Rae does a beautiful job of taken two broken warriors and making them find peace within each other…And then, Chasing Fate, by Elle J Rossi is a fun blend of contemporary and mythology—more along the lines of Creating Fate with a tale that will just bring tears to your eyes. Really, it’s sad and haunting, but so damn good. I really can’t wait for you guys to read them all.
I loved seeing Attie at the end, she's devious and she knows her little sister well. When Chloe risks saving Dane and finds that Attie wasn't after him she's kind of torn, especially when they all discovered a few things? How did that come about in your writing?
Well, that was the tricky part. I had Attie written in a little different, but when Elle read the story, she had her character doing something else, so we had to compromise and then that part of the book came to pass.
Lastly the fun questions:
Plotter or pantser?
Panster!
Early Bird or Night Creature?
Both. It’s the middle of the day that bothers me.
Are you more like Attie, Chloe or Lacey?
I’m a lot like Chloe. Very withdrawn and I hold in my pain.
White, Milk or Dark chocolate?
Neither. I hate milk and it hates me.
Coffee Tea or other?
Coffee—but only the icy blend.
Music or quiet while working?
Music. I always write to music.
Favorite place to sit and write?
My desk. It’s in a converted breakfast nook and is surrounded by windows.
Computer or good old pen and paper?
Computer. But, I did hand write about half of Piper’s Fury.
Pick your poison (alcoholic drink of choice when going out): I don’t drink much, but when I do, I like Italian Margaritas. :P
Thanks for stopping in Rachel, it was great to be able to pick your mind and talk about Chloe and Dane.
Thank you so much for having me. I’m looking forward to visiting you on my tour!!!

Hi Rose,
ReplyDeleteNice interview and review! I picked this up yesterday and it's cruising to the top of the TBR pile ... although I have reservations about an author who hates milk. It's ok for milk to hate Rachel--it's not even alive, after all--and it's even ok for Rachel to be lactose intolerant ... but to "hate" milk? Milk is wholesome and good and part of a well-balanced diet. No cold cereal? No milkshakes? No milk mustaches? What can she be thinking?
I think she's tempting fate by hating milk. LOL
Tom, I prefer blood, have any to spill? :) Seriously, thank you for stopping by! :)
