Review: Kade's Dark Embrace by Kym Grosso

After a series of girls are ritualistically murdered on the cold streets of Philadelphia, seasoned detective, Sydney Willows, is forced to work with sexy, alpha vampire, Kade Issacson. While working the case, Sydney finds herself inexplicably drawn to Kade, fighting the passion she feels towards him. Kade, determined to solve the case and mete out justice, is captivated by the independent, fiery detective. As he attempts to protect her from a very real murderer, Kade grows concerned that the beautiful, but very human detective, could easily end up dead should she tangle with supernatural forces that are beyond her control.

The investigation leads them into a dark and dangerous world, deep in the heart of New Orleans, where together, they search for the perpetrators of the Voodoo killings. Sydney soon becomes the target of the killer and ends up fighting for her life and love in the Big Easy. Will she eventually give into the intoxicating desire she feels for Kade if she makes it out alive?

Review

We start off meeting Cop, Sydney Willows who is enjoying a night out. She is walking along the shore of a river when she feels her neck hairs bristle... giving her achill. Then her cell goes off... Work can be such a pain. She reluctantly goes and changes and meets with her team at the scene of the crime. A gruesome murder of a young woman. She is overcome by the smell and the way this woman died, but that's not whats making the small hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. Enter Kade Isaacson, the tall, dark and handsome investigator from P-CAL.When another victim turns up and Kade tried to warm her that this was not something she should get involved in, she turns her head and disregards him she find herself face-to-face with a scary apparition and now nose deep in paranormal VooDoo.

Kade never expected the sweet smell of Sydney to call to his most basic instincts as a Vampire, but he can't help but find out more about this beautiful blonde. However he finds out she infuriates him, disobeys his requests and is as stubborn as a bull. When trouble brews which Kade tries to protect her from will he remain focused and keep her safe she demands to be along side to fight this. However, Kade is holding back and when things can't get any worse for him they do.

Sydney finds herself facing a grungy vampire minion who has no qualms about having his way with her before handing her over to a very happy Mistress. However, she has a few tricks up her sleeves, but manages to get out if it, but is visibly shaken. Kade being the over-protecting demanding type whisks her away to New Orleans to keep a close eye on her. When things get darker and even more paranormal beings are involved Sydney knows she in over her head, but is still determined to kill who or whatever is killing those young women. As she spends time with Kade she finds herself falling in love with him, but afraid of the notion of being marked and claimed and what it means.

Kade can't help falling for Sydney either and knows that she is also his weakness, and the VooDoo Mistress is out to hurt him in revenge for sending her away. As their feelings grow and they give in to their desires Kade claims her to prevent her from coming to harm, but when Sydney walks into a trap it leaves Kade scrambling to find and save her. tin find out how things end you'll definitely have to read the book

I really liked Kym's writing style and how the tensions were between Kade and Sydney at first. Their feelings were heart-felt and emotionally packed! As they came together it was a wondrous thing to see them finally cave and the connection it opened to them both. The ending was gut wrenching and packed with emotion as things unfolded and ended. I really liked the storyline as well. A good 4 start read.
