Hello all! Welcome to my dark corner of the book blogging world. I am Poison Rose (obviously). I'm honored to be participating in my first BEA event.
Please take a seat and enjoy your dose of Poison for the start of Armchair BEA!
Our first job is to introduce ourselves by answering five (or more) of the requested questions...so here we go!
- Please tell us a little bit about yourself:
- Who are you
IRL my name is Sara. I am a single mom and web designer. - How long have you been blogging?
I've been blogging for close to a year, so my first bloggoversary is coming up in a couple weeks. I'll be having a giveaway and hopefully some other fun things going on. *smiles widely* - Why did you get into blogging?
Blogging to me came after my favorite author, Laura Kaye got published. I have been a fan of hers for many years now. You can read about her beginnings here on My Interview with Laura Kaye. I loved her Fan Fic she has written and her writing style was on par with how I have always loved to see it done, but after she began writing Forever Freed and got published I was hooked and wanted to share my thoughts on her books and others with people all over. I'm thrilled to be doing that for so many wonderful authors!
- Who are you
- What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)
I'd have to say the interviews with Authors, I am thrilled that they take valuable time from their schedules to answer questions that us bloggers ask, no matter how crazy they can sometimes be! LOL - Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
Easy! Interview with CJ Ellisson, Vivian and Rafe. - If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
Oh, great question! With Author it would have to be Jodi Redford. She is funny, witty, and writes a sex scene that can involve objects one would NOT think can be sexy! Have you seen her guest post about Home Depot?!?!? Read it Here.
As far as characters I'd go with my first love, Lucien Demarco from Laura Kaye's Forever Freed He was my first true Romance love, and part of what got me into romance again. And got me into Paranormal Romance all around. He holds a special place on my "Book Boyfriends" list...LOL - What is your favorite part about the book blogging community?
Thanks easy all the fabulous bloggers I've met through twitter or Facebook and have kept in contact with through the year since I began my blog. - Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?
Not as much as one would think. I still try and stay with Romance mostly, but I do go into some of the darker toned books in the PNR genre and some horror as well. I have also delved more into erotica lately as I'm finding some great Authors who can write it how I like it.
And there you have a small dose of whats makes me tick in the book world. I'm delighted to be in the Armchair BEA and sharing my thoughts with you. Thanks for dropping in and I hope you come back soon!
I'm not much of a Romance reader, although I have listened to a few PNR novels as part of a blog event, one involving sexy shape shifting dragons. I find the romance bloggers I have encountered some of the most passionate fans out there, and always enjoy checking out there work even if I don't read in the genre. Since I do read a lot of horror, particularly Zombie novels, I may check back to find some of the darker PNR your talking about.
ReplyDeleteLove twitter! I also love that your love for one author got you to start book blogging!
ReplyDeleteHello Sara! I'm also a web designer! Nice to meet you. :) Early congrats on your first blogoversary!

DeleteI started blogging last June too! Congrats on your 1st year.
ReplyDeleteI think no one can compare to your first romance hero. Mine is Iain from Julie Garwood's The Secret.
Early congrats on your one year anniversary. The fun only continues.

What is the PNR genre? What are some of your favorite romance authors and/or books?
ReplyDeleteDo you think you could lift your comment restrictions for the Armchair BEA event? It makes it much easier to comment. :)
Allison
Well-Read Reviews
Hi Allison, PNR is Paranormal Romance abbreviated.
DeleteFav Authors - Laura Kaye, Jodi Redford and CJ Ellisson.
Fav. Books - any by the above three are auto-buys for me, plus Nalini Singh as well.
Restrictions lifted. Thanks for bringing that to my attention this week.
Hi There!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about an author that makes you want to blog: I had a similar experience myself with Sarah Addison Allen's Garden Spells.
Stunning design BTW!
Hi Sue,
DeleteI havent read or heard of this Sarah. I'll have to look into her and see what she's all about.
Thanks for the comment - I've updated the avi, graphics, and background, but the layout is all thanks to ParaJunkee :)

Happy almost blogoversary! That's always an exciting time. :)
ReplyDeleteI've just had a blogoversary, and have noticed several others coming up soon in the intros - summer must be a good time for starting book blogs :)
ReplyDeleteI love that it was an author that got you into blogging! I need to read more of her stuff, although she is one of my favorite authors to follow.
ReplyDeleteHappy BEA from a new follower!
Armchair BEA: Introducing Otherwhere.Co
Hi Jesse.
DeleteI've seen Otherwhere before! Nice to put a name with the blog. Laura would say I stalk her like mad. I had the fun quirk of knowing where she was one afternoon when she wasn't teaching... she was at Panera with Lea Nolan doing the 1k words in a hour contests with her. She claims she's predictable because of it!! LMAO
Welcome to my blog and thanks!
~Poison
That's so great how you've met so many great bloggers through blogging! I also had an author inspire me into blogging: Julie Kagawa. :)
ReplyDeleteMy BEA Intro
Hello! Nice to meet your blog:) have a fun week
ReplyDeleteI'm not really much of a romance reader, YA is more my style, but if I'm ever in the mood for more of a adult read, I know where to look.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure to "meet" you and I hope you have a fab BEA week!

The sense of community is truly inspirational. I haven't done any author interviews but that's something I'm wanting to do this year!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful "meeting" you :) Armchair BEA @ the Brunette Librarian
Congrats on your upcoming year anniversary of blogging! I would have never tried PNR if not for blogger's recommendations.
ReplyDeleteHi Sara,
ReplyDeletejust stopping by -- old follower. I haven't read anything from Jodi Redford -- what is your favorite from her?? Love your site!!
http://bellesbookbag.blogspot.com/2012/06/armchair-bea-introductions-first.html
HI Mariann,
DeleteNice to see you back! Fav Jodi Redford was Cat Scratch Fever, a shifter book, it had a lot of good humor as well as the romance in it.
Thanks for asking!
~Poison
Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteI tend to read mostly YA lately, but my first love was romance novels - historical, paranormal, any kind of romance. :)
I'll be touring around your blog, I love it!
Hmmm.. my brain is telling me to stay away from that Home Depot post... but you know what they say about curiosity...
ReplyDeleteHere's my Intro post. Nice to meet you!
HI Marie,
DeleteI was dying of laughter, but NEVER saw what I did coming. I was seriously going SHE can make ANYTHING kinky/sexual!! LMAO
Pleasure to meet you!
~Poison
I have heard some great things about romance novels! I am mainly a YA reader, but I will have to expand my tastes soon I think! :)
ReplyDeleteI love author interviews as well, especially fun ones! Learning new things is always fantastic!
Thanks for sharing :)
