Warning: Sexy, sass talking women will make you laugh, cry and want a pair of killer footwear.

About the Author

Nana's love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she borrowed from her cousin on a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana at a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

Waiting for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, Nana, meantime works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is. Though, until that ninja job comes through, you'll find her acting out scenes for hubby and puppy while catching up on her favorite reality television shows in sunny San Diego.

Review

Poor Jaya Trudeaux has just gotten done doing the presentation to snatch her a HUGE client and get the proverbial event of her dreams planned, until her father and her ex fiancé pull her aside and drop the biggest bomb on her. They claim she didn't follow the approved presentation and isn't trying to help Trudeaux think toward the companies future. In her father's office they skitter around the facts until she tells it like it is. Leave it to Jaya to be blunt. Running from the office trying to be strong in the face of loosing the only job she was ever meant to have, as part of the family business she heads face first crying into the hard body of Alec Danthers.

The last thing Alec wants is to get tied down. He is the bachelor type, never staying around long enough to let love find it's way in and running when he thinks things are getting him in too deep. But when Jaya runs smack dab into him, he can't help but feel protective and want to keep her from feeling like she is now. He comforts her and helps her feel better, and when her tears do subside she is shocked by her own behavior, she is not one to be seen as weak. She offer to pay for his dry cleaning and hands him her card. Only for him to find out after calling Trudeaux that she is no longer there.

As part of the process of helping her feel better, she becomes a slob, her apartment is a wreck, and she went and bout the 4-digit Stiletto shoes her, and her two best friends have been oogling forever! whats a girl to do when wanting to feel better? Her friends drag her out for a night at the bars. Only she also runs into Alec working the bar. They flirt, they have mind blowing sex...then fall asleep together, and eventually Jaya bails and leaves Alec wondering what went wrong. IN her process to try and disappear her purse spills, and in her haste she left behind her credit card and license. How is Alec to track her down, but the license she left behind.

He asks her to breakfast and is hesitant to walk out the door with the handsome man she never intended to sleep with! But he offers to help her get a job with Adele Winthrope, the owner and devil-woman who owns the hotel chain by the same namesake. She is at first hesitant, but he promises to be on his best behavior. She manages to snag the job with Adele Winthrope, she spends LOT of time with and doing Alec and scratching a few things off her to-do before 30 list (think dirty). However, Alec gets distracted by the other job at hand and trying to keep pace with Jaya and keeping them both awake long hours. Trying to track down his black sheep brother is easy enough, but brinnig him back home to face Adele can frighten any man. And when Alec's chance to grab him hits, it hits at the time Jaya needed him most...the night of her sisters wedding, leaving her to attend solo.

Jaya is torn and hurt by Alec leaving her in her time of need, and even when he showed up late Jaya is cold and her pains are running 100mph as they come face to face. She snubs him and walks away holding her head high. She keeps busy with planning Adele's event for the next several months, but even her friends know that she still misses Alec, even if she won't admit it. Alec is pining over Jaya, but knows she needs her space. On the night of Adele's big event, Jaya is confronted by her father, and Alec who practically begs Jaya to forgive him because he can't forget about her. Did Jaya cave to Alec and have their happy ending or does she snub him again, keeping her pride? You'll have to read to find out.

I came to enjoy the book as I read it. I really liked how the pace wasn't to fast and we rally get to see Jaya, her emotions and just how OCD she is with lists. It was kind of funny to see she has a "To do before thirty list." She is strong and very determined to get what she thinks she wants, but finds that in letting go of her lists that life brings out so much more! Alec is a bit shocked at how organized and just how planned out Jaya is, but he somehow gets her to let loose and have a bit of fun. I loved watching how these two interacted and how they overcame their fears. I liked Nana's writing style and how she made her characters quirky and fun, and not the usual romantic type. Watch out for a really steamy scene involving balcony sex. *winks* I give this a 4 of 5 stars.
